‘RETURN TO THE ROOFTOP’ is the debut full length album from Boorloo (Perth) based composer, producer and sound artist Sleepthink (Ethan Reed). Sleepthink presents a deeply personal record that uses sound as a means of exploring the emotional aftermath of the suicide of a close friend and long time musical collaborator. Through the use of various synthesis techniques, sonic manipulation, field recordings and acoustic instrumentation, Sleepthink offers diverse soundscapes, emotionally potent melody and a range of unique textures across this work. Recorded and produced in his home studio, this 14-track record gives a deep insight into the creative process of the artist and his love of sonic textures, experimental recording techniques and emotionally dense music.
