JESS JOCELYN gives us SOMETHING GOOD
Blue Grey Pink is extremely proud to welcome Jess Jocelyn to the growing roster of WA creatives making our city sound better than ever.
Jess Jocelyn is the name of the ever-changing solo project of Boorloo-based artist Jess Nyanda Moyle. Born in Hong Kong, raised in Northern Perth (where all the suburbs look the same) the 2nd gen Filipinx/Australian migrant writes stories about home, identity and healing. Influenced by the likes of Mitski, Paul Kelly, Tracey Chapman and Phoebe Bridgers, Jess tells her stories through lyric-led, almost sickeningly catchy folk-pop-rock.
Off the back of her debut single ‘Another Little Thing to Hold’ Jess can’t wait to show the world ‘Something Good’ (an unironically titled new release). Recorded and mixed by Ryan K Brennan (Phantastic Ferniture) featuring backing vocals from Mark Neal (Odlaw), with Chris Grunwaldt and Taylah McLean (Yawn Vibes) on gang vox. Expect a mixture of folk-rock stylings akin to Better Oblivion Community Centre but sun-soaked in fun, dorky Perth vibes, with lyrics that drip with existential dread. Essentially, the lost Summer banger of 2020 that no one asked for.
SOMETHING GOOD is out NOW on Blue Grey Pink
