Dolce Blue release re-work of fan favourite ‘Dream Catcher’ ahead of next months LP release

Following on from Sugar Free, and Typical Kind of Fun which saw praise and support from Triple J, Apple Music, Pilerats, Backseat Mafia, and RTRFM (to name a few), and recently being named a finalist in Happy Mag’s ‘Needle in the Hay’ competition, and a top 20 in WAM (West Australian Music) ‘Song of The Year’ awards, Dolce Blue give one last taste of their upcoming album Sweet Melancholy Deluxe before it’s July 5th release, sharing a rework fan favourite Dream Catcher now featuring Finn Pearson.

The original release of Dream Catcher from their 2023 Sweet Melancholy LP has now amassed over 21k streams, so to treat fans on their upcoming deluxe version of the album Dolce Blue have teamed up with WAM Song of the Year award winner and “one of the state’s most exciting new additions in the past two years or so” (Pilerats), Finn Pearson.

Announced at their Typical Kind of Fun single launch show Friday night (May 31st) at The Bird in Boorloo/ Perth, Pearson was invited on stage to perform the song live with the band, Veronica sharing “Finn was just a natural choice for this track, I really love what he’s brought to it and really honoured that he was onboard.”

Continuing “when we originally recorded and released Dream Catcher I always kind of saw a duality to it, a narrative between two people who are trying to escape the situation they’re in. It’s nice to finally have that actualised as a duet with Finn.”

Sweet Melancholy Deluxe LP, set for release July 5th, 2024. Featuring 4 brand new songs including Sugar Free and Typical Kind of Fun, and 3 alternative versions of songs including Dream Catcher ft. Finn Pearson, the full release is an impressive 20-track album that the band describe as something “we’re really proud to be releasing”. Continuing “some of these songs we’ve been working on for what feels like a good chunk of our lives, and to finally get them out into the world feels really good, they’re songs that we enjoy playing and listening too, and really timestamp our teenage years to early 20s”.

Recorded with Michael Strong at You’re Weird Mixing (Pat Chow, Odlaw, Veruca Moon, Stacy Ann), Dolce Blue take inspiration from a range of artists they look up to including; Arctic Monkeys, Mac DeMarco, The Black Keys, Lana Del Rey, Kali Uchis, and Joy Division, creating soundtracks that are equally enjoyed by the poolside, or on your daily commute.
